We are an English-Swedish couple who have lived and worked on Naxos since 1993. We opened East West in 2000 to much fanfare, (at that time the island badly needed an alternative to the local cuisine) and has given us the opportunity to combine our 3 great interests: food, wine and travelling.
In the past we have backpacked our way around Indonesia, Malaysia and India, more recently we have spent our winters exploring Thailand and especially its fantastic cuisine. The food markets throughout Thailand are always a great adventure for us and there are not many weird and wonderful dishes that we haven’t tried. We love to pester the local cooks by being nosy and asking far too many questions, in order to bring the special flavours of Asia back home with us and then try to recreate them in East West.
