Plaka Beach among the top 10 of Europe 11 June 2005 In a recent article published in the UK Joanna Symons includes Plaka beach among the top 10 beaches of Europe. According to Mrs Symons: There is something delightfully alternative about Plaka Beach on the Cycladic island of Naxos. A golden stretch of several miles, dotted with loungers and overshadowed by umbrellas, it has a relaxed attitude to clothing. The farther south you wander along it, the more flesh goes on display, starting with full swimming gear at the northern end and finishing with not very much at all half a mile along. The water is clear and blue, a mini market sells cold drinks and snacks -- and it's the closest you'll get to Goa in the Med. Author : Joanna Symons
